I FEEL strongly about the NHS decision to dispense with the services of the wonderful breast cancer care nurses Hazel Birtwistle and Wendy James (LET, April 3). They play such a vital role, along with Mrs Margaret Robinson, in the wonderful medical team of surgeon Mr John Tresadern.
Having been looked after by them all three years ago, I and other women like me know what a superb, efficient, caring job they do. All of them are angels and deserve true recognition for it.
Therefore, my blood boils when I see money - lots of it - being spent on needless, useless things like the 'grannie and child' statue on Blackburn Boulevard!
I am a grannie myself, but would much prefer the money to be spent on Mr Tresadern's 'wonder women' knowing they would be there for others and maybe myself again. Who knows? I would sleep more easily!
E HANRATTY (Mrs), Rosewood Avenue, Roe Lee, Blackburn.
