SUPERSTAR Gemma Craven is coming to Blackpool later this month with the hit Broadway musical 42nd Street.

Gemma has been a household name since appearing alongside Richard Chamberlain in the Cinderella fantasy The Slipper and the Rose.

Her extensive career in television and theatre has spanned 28 years, during which time she has won several major awards including Actress of the Year and best newcomer.

In her latest role Gemma plays Dorothy Brock in 42nd Street.

The musical tells the story of Peggy Sawyer, an aspiring young singer who dreams of Broadway and gets her big break when the leading lady drops out and she has to go on stage in her place.

Gemma says: "It is a simple story which will appeal to the young and old alike.

"We have put together a great show. It's a good old-fashioned musical with plenty of laughs and catchy songs."

The show includes the classic songs We're In The Money, You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me, and, of course, 42nd Street, which are guaranteed to get toes tapping.

Her co-star James Smillie plays the down-on-his-luck producer Julian Marsh who gives Peggy her chance at the big time.

James has also appeared in countless TV fav ourites including Prisoner Cell Block H, Space 1999 and 80s mini-series Return to Eden.

James is enthusiastic about his latest role and believes 42nd Street will be a big hit in Blackpool.

He said: "This is a really happy production with bundles of songs that people can tap to."

42nd Street opens at the Blackpool Grand Theatre on Monday, April 28.
