LANCASHIRE LYNX 26 YORK WASPS 23
LANCASHIRE Lynx made club history last Friday night (April 11) as they moved into joint first position of the second division.
Nearly ten minutes had elapsed before Lancashire made their first impression on their visitors' defence.
Kiwi loose forward PJ Solomon grabbed the ball from the scum, charged straight through the York defence to score under the posts and set up a simple conversion for Mike Stewart.
York scored two tries in quick succession when prop Jon Horner crossed the line and after Ray Waring knocked on at the kick off, Horner was followed two minutes later by Colin Brown.
A drop goal and penalty by Alex Green gave York a five points lead at half-time.
After the break Ian Moffat sent in Ray Waring who sped around the York defence and Lancashire narrowed the gap to just one point.
York continued to dominate, but the game was turned around in the final 15 minutes.
Chris Kelly picked up the ball from the scrum and made a blistering 70 metre spring to cross the whitewash. After the kick off, York lost possession and Neil Molyneux was able to send in Waring for his second.
With ten minutes remaining, a break by Ian Moffatt sent the ball inside to Mike Stewart who scored the vital try for the Lynx.
