RISHTON have signed young Lancashire all-rounder Darren Shadford as substitute professional for Saturday's game at Colne. And Read pro Shahid Nawaz will deputise against Ramsbottom on Sunday.

The champions' new professional Meryck Pringle, along with Alan Dawson (Nelson) is competing in a domestic cup tournament with Western Province in South Africa.

And Burnley have also started to look for a replacement for Dale Benkenstein, of Natal.

Turf Moor cricket manager Peter Lawson admitted: "We believe Natal are also involved, though we are still waiting for confirmation from him that he will not be here.

"I am assuming he won't be and proceeding with trying to find substitutes."

All three players should be able to arrive some time next week, having missed the first three league matches.
