PRINCE Andrew will be the guest of honour at a charity dinner to celebrate the acquisition of Lytham Hall by the town's trust.

It will be the Duke of York's third visit to the resort since attending the British Open Gold Championship at Royal Lytham and St Annes last July.

Now the Queen's second son has agreed to appear at a dinner on May 2 as a guest of the Lytham Town Trust - Andrew's second visit to the hall in recent months.

Mayor of Fylde Alf Jealous said he was delighted the Duke had accepted the invitation.

Councillor Jealous said: "He several visits since to Royal Lytham so he obviously likes the area. I invited him to the celebration and was delighted when he accepted.

"He is a very friendly man and easy to get along with."

David Coupe, of the Friends of Lytham Hall, who raised money for the purchase of the hall, said:

"We are delighted at the fact Prince Andrew is visiting the hall again.

"This will be the first of many events to raise money around £450,000 which we need to purchase the contents of the hall."

The purchase of the hall was made possible by a substantial donation by British Aerospace.
