POORLY pets on the Fylde are being offered their own ambulance service.
The Pet to your Vet service is aimed mainly at the elderly or disabled who find it difficult to get to their local clinic and offers to ferry customers to the Woodlands veterinary clinic in Ansdell or Spen Corner, Blackpool.
The pets will be chauffeured by John Hornby, whose previous experience has been with slightly more lively animals.
He said:" I think I'm quite suited for the job as I used to be a police sniffer dog handler.
"I'm sure I'll cope with any stressed pets in the back of the car - even if it does get a bit messy!
"I feel confident with animals which will be a help in this job. I'm not an expert but I am experienced."
The service is available for owners of small pets and aimed at people who are disabled or elderly without any transport to get to them to the vets.
Mr Hornby said: "It will really serve as an ambulance service for pets but we want owners to come as well to calm down their fretting pets."
The Pet to your Vet car service will run every Tuesday and Wednesday.
All you have to do is phone one of the two surgeries and book your pets own personal taxi.
