INSTANT hit Tony Battersby has expressed his desire to stay at Gigg Lane . . . whatever the outcome of the promotion battle.
The 21-year-old striker has scored twice in five starts since his temporary move from Notts County and has impressed everyone with his all-action contribution.
"I have enjoyed every minute of my time here and if a deal can be done I'll be delighted to stay," he said after playing a major part in the 1-0 win over Crewe on Tuesday.
The Doncaster born marksman would cost the Shakers around £100,000 and it could be money well spent for a youngster who is currently keeping Mark Carter and David Johnson on the bench.
"No deal has been done and we'll cross that bridge when we come to it," was all boss Stan Ternent would say on the subject, although he admitted he had been "delighted" with Battersby's contribution.
The striker is set continue up front against Peterborough tomorrow but Ternent faces a selection dilemma at the back where Andy Woodward will be missing because of a pulled hamstring.
Chris Lucketti is also suffering with a sore foot but is expected to play. Ian Hughes is likely to move back into defence from midfield allowing Adrian Randall an immediate recall after he was dropped on Tuesday. Andy Scott and Tony Rigby will be vying for a place on the bench.
