ADRIAN Heath won't tolerate any slacking at Notts County tomorrow, even though Burnley are facing up to what is virtually an impossible task to qualify for the promotion play-offs.
If Burnley fail to win either of their last two games, against County and Watford, or when another team reaches 71 points, then it's all over.
But the Turf Moor boss is demanding a maximum effort from his players right to the line and pointed out: "When you look at Watford's result last night, you realise that anything can happen."
The prolific scoring form of Paul Barnes has given Burnley an edge over their rivals for most of the season.
Goals scored has been worth an extra point at times for the Turf Moor side.
And Barnes will be looking to add to his impressive tally when he returns to face the club where his career began as an apprentice.
But now it's really just down to points, not goals scored, and time has almost run out.
Nevertheless, Heath will insist that his players are single-minded. "We are aware that if we win tomorrow and everything goes our way then there is still just an outside chance," he said.
"And that is the way we must approach it. We have to believe we can still do it and go along those lines. This week, some results have gone for us, some against.
"We can get a maximum of 70 points and we will be trying to reach that target." Deep down, Heath has probably accepted that it is a forlorn hope.
"The ball is in other people's courts now, it's out of our hands," he said.
"We can only get to 70 points and it is unlikely that will be enough. But we have to believe it will be possible. In any case, if we can't finish sixth I want us to finish seventh."
Heath is unlikely to make much change from the side which drew 3-3 with Rotherham, though he said he could add some members of last night's reserve team to the squad after they had been checked this afternoon.
The starting line-up is likely to come from: Beresford, Parkinson, Brass, Hoyland, Winstanley, Eyres, Weller, Matthew, Harrison, Barnes, Cooke, Smith, Huxford, Guinan, Russell.
County, who have had a nightmare season, could play one or two youngsters tomorrow. They are without suspended Phil Robinson and another midfielder Steve Finnan, who is on international duty. They are set to choose from: Ward, Baraclough, Hendon, Strodder, Redmile, Mitchell, Walker, Derry, Ridgeway, Hunt, Martindale, Jones, Dudley, White, Pollitt.
It's all pay at the turnstiles for Burnley fans at Notts County, price £10 adults, £5 concessions.
