BURNLEY Reserves ran riot at Field Mill last night, hammering Mansfield Reserves 9-2 - a result which should see them safe from relegation in the Pontin's League Second Division.
Coach Harry Wilson, bitterly disappointed by the previous reserve display, said: "Last night was a total contrast. I think Mansfield have only got one point but you still have to score the goals and it could easily have been even more."
There was a hat-trick for sub Phil Eastwood, two apiece for Liam Robinson and triallist David Hilton and one each for Glen Little and Jim Bentley.
Hilton, 19, a left winger released by Manchester Utd, is likely to have another reserve game next week. He did well, so did Glen Little and Nigel Gleghorn came through his comeback game.
Burnley lined up: O'Leary, Huxford, Vinnicombe, Scott, Bentley, Little, Gleghorn, Smith, Hilton, Robinson, Helliwell (sub Eastwood 30 mins).
