Barrow Braves 32 Lancashire Lynx 30
IN YET another nail-biting match, a 12-men Lynx side battled against the odds to try and save the game.
Kevin Tamati has had to make a number of changes to the Lynx squad that had seemed unstoppable at the beginning of their winning streak. At Barrow, Daniel Jones replaced the unavailable Neil Parsley at full back, joining new boy Steve Byrne in their first full game for Lancashire.
Former Barrow player Andy Ruane had a short-lived game being sent off for a high tackle in the minute. Ruane's early bath seemed to inspire the Lynx after their weak start. Game star Carl Briscoe played an important part in setting up Steve Taylor's try in the 32nd minute and five minutes later, Briscoe was rewarded with his own try that gave the visitors a slender four point lead at half time.
The game came alive in the last half hour and the game was balanced at 24-26.
The Braves regained their lead but a superb run by Milton Finney took him over. However a last-gasp Braves penalty settled things.
Lancashire Lynx: Jones, Waring, Stewart, Smith, Byrne, Kelly, Taylor, Ruane, Norton, Molyneux, Briscoe, Solomon. Subs: Moffatt, Walsh, Westwood, Gleave
