A BURNLEY teenager has been chosen from female Sea Cadets across the country to receive one of the highest honours in the organisation.
Lisa Shannon received the Hope Gosse Leadership Trophy at Burnley cadets' HQ for showing exceptionally high standards of leadership.
She recently passed her examinations to become a Petty Officer Cadet, the highest rank a cadet can reach.
Lisa has twice been selected for special training at the Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth.
And has just been chosen to take part in a trip on a Merchant Navy vessel belonging to South Africa's largest shipping company.
Later this year she will be a guest of Admiral Sir Jock Slater and the Captain of the Sea Cadets, Captain Roger Parker, at the Royal Tournament.
Lisa will soon be 18 and plans to stay on at TS Lookout as an instructor.
She wants to become a pilot in the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm when she has completed her degree at Liverpool University.
