A DOZEN divers were hoping to make a splash for the RNLI by swimming the equivalent of the Channel underwater.
The members of the Pendle branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club took to the water at Pendle Leisure Centre, Colne, to swim 1,417 lengths of the pool in breathing gear to complete Pendle Leisure Services' Channel Challenge Swimathon.
It took them around four-and-a-half hours to complete the distance in relays and the team is hoping to raise around £500 sponsorship cash for the lifeboat charity through their efforts.
