I REALLY had to smile when reading your article, "Council's 'on yer bike' bid to beat gridlocks" (LET, April 25).
In it, Coun Bill Goldsmith and Coun Sheelagh Delaney made statements like: "The priority is to get people out of their cars and onto public transport and bikes" and that "public transport needed improving if people were going to be persuaded to leave their cars behind."
There's a fat chance of that. Have Bill and Sheelagh forgotten that they and their cronies have just sold off the buses in Hyndburn and trains don't run down Union Road in Oswaldtwistle?
As for 'on yer bike,' well, Bill, keep pedalling all the way back to the Fylde Coast and let's hope it's a tandem.
