BIG hearted hotel bosses came to the rescue of distraught bride Jane Simpson and fiance Simon Eccles when their wedding guests were left in the lurch!
The 40 visitors from all over the country, including members of the groom's family from Langho, near Blackburn, were let down by a guest house which announced it had been double booked just a fortnight before the big day.
Mother-of-the-bride Cath Simpson, from Fulwood, said: "I couldn't believe it could happen. I had gone over and over the arrangements so nothing could go wrong. I had even called the guest house a week earlier to check."
Husband Mike added: "It was meant to be a family reunion, there were people coming from all over the country, all they could offer was to put half the guests somewhere else."
But management of the Forte Post House in Preston saved the day when they stepped in with cut-price accommodation for the whole entourage.
Hotel reception manager Helen Iddon said double booking was a problem in the hotel industry but added: "We were pleased to be able to step in and help. We would do the same for any guest whether it was for one or for 40."
And the bride's mother praised the Post House: "It all worked out well - the perfect ending to a fairytale romance."
Jane who works as a junior doctor in Manchester, married long-term fiance Simon, a teacher from Langho, at St Claire's Church in Fulwood, Preston.
The couple, who met at Stonyhurst College when they were 18, they flew off to Tunisia for the honeymoon.
