AS a Liberal Democrat I would like to inform Mr Oxley (last Week's Journal Mailbox) that we do not support the practice of fly-posting.
I agree with Mr Oxley that fly-posting is unsightly, but there is no need for our party to remove such posters when we are not the ones who put them up.
There is nothing we can do to stop people putting fly-posters up only by fining them and that's if our police in Leigh can catch them. But let's face it our police have a lot more to do like catching muggers and car thiefs.
I would also like to explain that the Wesley Guild's campaign is in line with my party's policies on the environment. Page 25 in our manifesto says that we will use tax and planning reforms to protect rural areas, encouraging development on derelict land sites rather than green fields.
Mr G. Collinge
Nel Pan Lane,
Leigh.
