I WAS interested to read Andrew Oxley's letter (last week's Mailbox), charging the Wesley Guild campaigners with 'fly posting', and asking if I was in favour of it.
The Wesley Guild group did not consult me on this, and neither should they have, as it is their campaign and not mine. I congratulate them on their professionalism and the selfless attempt to save the green field for the whole community.
They have assured me that posters have been removed after their purpose has been served. I would think a few poster stuck on lamp posts pales into insignificance after the immoral and arrogant way in which the Wesley Guild affair has been conducted by the council.
I am certain that if Liberal Democrat policies were adopted the land would never have been up for sale. Under our proposals, environmental considerations would take precedent over all others, and builders would be deterred from developing green field sites by the hefty payment of a Greenfield Development Tax.
