SPACE aged humour and intergalactic giggles are set to land in Blackburn later this month in a play the promises to be a real tongue twister.
For Blackburn Drama Club are currently putting the finishing touches to one of the longest titled comedies around - They Came From Mars And Landed Outside The Church Hall In Time For The Farndale Women Institute's Coffee Morning.
The play, which runs at Blackburn College Theatre between April 30 to May 3, revolves around the frenzied attempts of the Farndale Women to stage a thriller, aided and abetted by their long suffering stage manager Gordon.
Leading lady Isobel Barrett, who plays Roberta the Robot, said: "This is the first time in over 30 years of acting that I have worn a silver space suit. I feel like an oven ready chicken so I hope the lights are not too hot or I'll be roasted alive."
Director Dorothy Perkins said she cannot wait until the opening night to let the audience know what all the fun is about.
She added: "The play is one of a series of plays written by the New York-based David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin junior. All are based in Farndale Avenue. I know the audience will be on the edge of their seats with laughter - rehearsals have never been such fun."
