ENCOURAGING results are revealed today from a new-style crime crackdown by the police in East Lancashire - with burglaries down by 60 per cent and overall offences cut by 16 per cent in just one month.
The tactic employed by the force in Lancashire police's new eastern division is to put non-stop heat on known criminals - the hard-core offenders responsible for high levels of crime.
Now they are being netted, crime is plunging dramatically - making the region's homes and streets safer for everyone.
That is what people want. And, better still, it is what they are to get more of.
For the division's chief, Superintendent Eddie Walsh, promises: "We've only just begun."
Great! Well done, the bobbies behind this new crime blitz - and keep up the good work.
