POLICE in St Helens are asking people to be on their guard following an incident in which a teenage girl was indecently assaulted by a man dressed as a woman.

The 15 year old was walking home along Derbyshire Hill Road in Parr near the Horseshoe pub at 10.20pm on Monday, April 21 when a man wearing women's clothing and a wig, pulled the terrified girl down and assaulted her before running off in the direction of Newton Road.

The man was white, about 5ft 9ins, late 20s, medium build , long face, prominent cheekbones and a large chin. He had on a long wavy, black wig which the girl pulled off to reveal short or tied back dark hair. He also wore a black bomber jacket with a zip front, a tight white top and long black skirt with large flowers on it and white trainers and white socks.

Prior to the assault, the girl had noticed the man walking along Broad Oak Road away from the town centre.

Detectives are also linking this with a similar incident which happened on Monday, March 24 in which a man dressed as a woman approached a 14 year old boy as he walked home along Park Road in Fingerpost at 11.30pm.
