ARTHUR Prescott is hoping to make the move from retired miner to millionaire after staking his claim for a staggering £4 million National Lottery win. The pigeon-fancier from Parr is keeping his fingers crossed after posting off his lucky ticket for confirmation from lottery giants, Camelot.
Pensioner Arthur, (69), believes he missed his bumper share of the jackpot back in March... he had been too busy to check out the lucky numbers.
It was only due to the eagle-eyes of eldest daughter, Rachel, 17, who spotted the winning combination on last Saturday's Lottery show, that he actually realised his good fortune.
But when the ex-pitman first heard the good news, the question of how to spend his millions wasn't the only worry he had on his mind.
"I hope this doesn't mean they'll stop my pension allowance and free coal", quipped the perky father-of-three.
Arthur, who has lived in Parr for the past 38 years is now awaiting the day the bumper cheque will drop through his letterbox before planning a move to a dream eight-bedroomed house in Southport.
Together with wife Linda (45) daughters Rachel and Heidi (15) and his menagerie of pets, including two dogs, three rabbits and forty birds, he hopes to live out his days in the coastal town.
Arthur's son, 38-year-old Arthur, plans to stay on in the family's mid-terrace council home, which his dad is hoping to buy for him as a gift.
Arthur senior said: "I just want to buy a nice place to live, with plenty of land for my dogs to run around and somewhere for all my friends to come and stay. Winning this money doesn't make me any different and does not make me a king. I'm a down to earth person and that is the way I will stay. I just want to be able to give my family a good start in life."
