TWO cars have been torched by a firebug in the latest in a series of vehicle arson attacks to plague the Redvales area of Bury.
In just over a month, eight vehicles have been extensively damaged in a spate of mystery blazes.
And police have revealed that a man has been quizzed about two of the incidents. He has been bailed to reappear again at Bury Police Station for further questioning.
Monday's arsons involved Vauxhall Nova and Ford Fiesta cars belonging to flatmates. They were parked side by side outside a house in Inman Street when the arsonist struck at 4.55am.
Police say the firebug ignited the Nova car and the flames spread to engulf the Fiesta. Heat from one of the burning vehicles was so intense it damaged the exterior of a pre-fabricated classroom at the nearby Bury Catholic Preparatory School.
Several of the building's PVC panels melted while double glazing was cracked. The blaze was tackled by a fire crew from Bury. The Nova was destroyed while the Fiesta sustained 50 per cent damage.
A spokesman for Bury police said: "At this stage, we have no evidence to link this incident to others in that area."
