AN OLD boy of Leigh Grammar School has been made head of the General Assembly of Unitarian and Christian Free Churches.
Rev Clifford Reed lived in Leigh from 1959-66 when his father, the late Rev Lionel Reed, was minister of the Unitarian churches at Leigh and Astley.
He discussed his visit with Mrs Mary Barratt, lay leader of Leigh Unitarian Church, at the Unitarians' annual conference held earlier this month in Norwich.
The visit coincides with centenary celebrations on October 4 and 5 at the Twist Lane church.
