BURNLEY Central Library's refurbishment has been commended in a national awards scheme run by the Civic Trust.
Out of 600 UK entries 62 were commended, 21 won awards and 38 got a special mention.
The library was given a new look two years ago with an impressive new entrance and a complete new interior layout.
Director of the Civic Trust, Michael Gwilliam said there was tough competition for prizes and commendations.
"We have been very impressed by the overall quality and range of entries this year," he said. "It is most encouraging to see so many projects contributing positively to the quality of their local environments."
