SOUNDS of success resounded throughout a top tourist attraction this weekend as the first Derian House street market opened its doors.

The thousands of bargain hunters, who flocked to the Magic of Coronation Street were delighted by the range of goods on offer along the legendary cobbled street.

Everything was on offer on the day, although Mavis won't be too happy when she learns that Macmillan Cancer Relief set up shop on her treasured front lawn!

And even the Rovers Return opened for tired shoppers to relax with a pint and a hot-pot.

Organisers of the event, the Fylde Derian House Support Group, say more than 2,000 people attended the extravaganza, which was backed by the Citizen.

Chairwoman of the Fylde support group, Leslie Greenslade, said they were delighted with the response. She said: "It all went very well and we are extremely grateful to the Magic of Coronation Street for allowing us to hold the event there.

"Some of the stallholders have given some of their takings to us as well, so we have done really well." The doors open once again this Sunday, April 27, for the market in aid of the Chorley-based children's hospice.

But, as Leslie stressed, it is most definitely worth coming back.

She added: "The stalls at the weekend are going to be different from last week's, so it is well worth coming back again.

"If it's a nice day again, I'm sure we'll get even more people visiting because I hope word will have got round how good the last market was."
