IN reply to the article about the two breast care nurses, Wendy Birtwistle and Hazel James (LET, April 3), I feel I must correct a few points.
My mother, Mrs Margaret Robinson, is the only breast care specialist nurse at Blackburn and has single-handedly provided invaluable care, advice and support for many years to women referred for breast cancer. eventually, in 1992, she was given two part-time nurses with experience in breast care to help her run the service and they became an invaluable part of the team.
Six months ago, funding was withdrawn for the part-time posts, so it has left my mother working full-time, single-handedly once more to cope with the enormous taskShe is a very caring and kind individual who is very concerned that she has not got enough time to look after all her patients.
LIZ ROBINSON (RGN), Queen Street, Whalley.
