THE US space probe, Carsine, journeying to Saturn in August, 1999, will be carrying more than 72lbs of plutonium for generating electricity for the instruments on board.
In the event of an accident while the probe is only 312 miles above the earth, this plutonium could scatter, exposing billions of people on earth to its radiation.
We could complain now, but would anyone listen? I doubt it.
