WHEN it comes to climbing mountains there has to be fewer crazier people than Lowton secretary Jackie Greaves.
For Jackie, of Rowan Avenue, is climbing the 3,115 feet peak of Helvellyn in the Lake District - carrying 50 cans of Guinness!
The stunt, to raise cash for the Search and Rescue Dogs Association, which saves lives in the peaks, is even crazier than last year's effort when she carried 45 cans only to find the weather stopped her selling them enroute and forced her to carry them down again.
She said: "Five cans does not sound much different but when it comes to the weight it does, especially when you are carrying them up a mountain! I am looking for sponsorship for the event and hoping to sell all the cans on the climb this year.
"Last October the weather was absolutely atrocious and I only managed to raise £300. This year I am much more hopeful that I will make lots more and I hope Journal readers will support me."
Jackie was rescued several years ago by the SRDA during a climbing expedition in the Cairngorms.
A secretary at Lowton West Junior School, Jackie can be contacted with sponsorship offers on 01942 741640.
