IT was a purr-fect day for Pringle the pussycat when he scooped the top award at a Preston cat show.
The win was a real boost for the Cats Protection League which organised the event - for Pringle had been rescued by CPL volunteers just weeks ago.
The marvellous moggy suffered a traffic accident in February and had to have one of his back legs removed.
But CPL volunteer Janice Vaughan fell in love with the top cat so much, she took him home and adopted him.
Almost a hundred domestic moggies and cat connoisseurs flocked to Penwortham Leisure Centre in Crow Hills Road, for the annual cat show which is for non-pedigree cats only. More than £1,000 was raised to help the League care for stray and abandoned cats in the town.
Lynn Gardner of the CPL said: "Pringle was so cool and laid-back at the show and seemed to love every minute of it.
"This prize is really dear to our hearts and shows how much our service means to cats and cat-lovers."
Poshy from Lostock Hall, near Preston, owned by Julie Hesketh, won the best kitten prize.
