THE money is still flowing in at a cash-strapped charity after its general manager issued a 'back me or sack me' ultimatum to church leaders.
After the Citizen highlighted the plight of Blackburn Churches Action, more than £5,000 has swollen the coffers of the charity which helps needy families in the town.
So far a total of £5,275 has been donated by churches and private sources and general manager Fred Milligan is delighted with the response.
He said: "Since the original story, when I pleaded to churches to help the charity, many have set up standing orders.
"Hopefully we will get them all churches contributing on a regular basis."
Meanwhile the charity - based in Pearson Street, Blackburn - which donates furniture and household equipment to needy families is running low on stock.
Beds and bedding tops the list of priorities. Anyone who can help should contact Mr Milligan on 680317 or 678000.
