Barrow Braves 32 Lancashire Lynx 30 IN yet another nail-biting match on Saturday (April 26), a twelve man Lynx side battled against the odds to try and save the game.
Kevin Tamati has had to make a number of changes to the Lynx squad - Daniel Jones replaced the unavailable Neil Parsley at full back, joining new boy Steve Byrne in their first full game for Lancashire.
Game star Carl Briscoe played an important part in setting up Steve Taylor's try in the 32nd minute and five minutes later, Briscoe was rewarded with his own try that gave the visitors a slender four point lead at half-time.
The game came alive in the last half hour as the lead slid from team to team with a try being scored almost every five minutes. After tries from Byrne and Ray Waring, the outcome of the game was balanced with the score at 24-26.
Despite missing a penalty, the Braves regained their lead in the 70th minute and all seemed lost for the Lynx. But a superb run by Milton Finney took him over the line and with Simon Smith missing the conversion, it looked as if a draw was on the cards.
Unfortunately for Lancashire, Barrow were awarded a penalty in front of the goal in the dying seconds and as Dean Marwood's kick sailed through the posts, the final hooter signalled the end of the game and the end of the Lynx's unbeaten run of games.
