ATHERTON beat the bad weather on Saturday.
Their match with Adlington was the only one played in the Vimto Bolton Association - and they netted eight points after batting first and totalling 143-7 off their 38 overs.
Jonathan Fearick top scored wih 31, Paul Brown added 29 while, of the bowlers, Ian Moss collected 4-32 and Steve Walsh 2-18 in a total of 70-6.
On Sunday Astley & Tyldesley snatched a draw from what should have been a comfortable victory at Adlington.
They bowled out the home side for 108. But that was the easy part. They also found batting something of a trial, even with the benefit of two extra overs.
Opener Scott Henderson was still there on after 50 overs, but with only 41 to his credit, and, although Rob Bennett swung the bat for a quick 21, A & T finished at 105-6 - and 10 of those runs came in the last over!
Golborne drew their game with Atherton, Andrew Batterley 46 and Ewan McCray 59 helping them to 173 with Steve Walsh taking 5-38 while Atherton were 146-9 in reply, Jonathan Harrop 59 and McCray picking up 4-66.
