A NEW mosaic floor is a step nearer being installed in the Victorian Arcade, Accrington, after councillors approved the plans.
Development services members were told that the present concrete surface was wearing out.
An application for grant aid to replace the floor of the arcade, between Church Street and Warner Street, has been made under the Conservation Area Partnership.
Councillors agreed that the director of development services should allow the scheme after details of the new designs and tile samples have been passed by English Heritage.
Coun Wendy Dwyer said: "The Victorian Arcade is a jewel in the crown of Accrington and I welcome this scheme."
