THE Bishop of Manchester is to help celebrate the 125th birthday of one of Bury's oldest churches on June 29.
The Rt. Rev. Christopher Mayfield will attend a special mass at St Peter's Church which was built at a cost of £4,500.
The Manchester Road church's foundation stone was laid in 1871 by Bishop Fraser.
Parishioners are to stage a week-long history exhibition, featuring old photos and mementos of St Peter's in times gone by, starting on Sunday, May 11.
A celebration of church activities will also be held over the weekend of June 20.
