SIX year-old Matthew Hurley's wish came true when he was invited to Bispham Police Station for a VIP tour.
Matthew of Moor Park Infants, Bispham, wrote to his local constabulary to tell them about his interest in the police and ask if he could come for a look around.
"I am very very interested in the police," the youngster wrote.
"Please can I come to look around the police station and go in a police car. I will be very very good."
The Bispham police force was so impressed by Matthew's letter, which he wrote by himself, that they contacted his school and invited him and class mates to visit the station.
The enthusiastic youngsters were met by Insp Ken Naylor and colleagues who showed them around and let them climb inside a police van and switch on the sirens.
The youngsters were taught about aspects of police equipment from hard hats to walkie-talkies and were introduced to police dogs and horses.
Insp. Naylor said: "Matthew and his friends were fascinated by everything they saw. I think they really enjoyed themselves and I know the officers certainly enjoyed having them.
An excited Matthew said: "We saw inside a police van, where the policemen keep their pens and papers, and we saw bikes and a horse.
"It was really fun. My best bit was the police bike. When I grow up I want to be a policeman so I can ride a bike and switch on the siren."
