BATTERED baby Levi Rose's tragic death must be fully investigated to ensure lessons arising from the case are learned.
That is the conclusion of Lancashire County Council, East Lancashire Health Authority, Lancashire Probation Service and Lancashire Constabulary after Christopher Rose, 20, and Kelly Catlow, 19, were jailed at Preston Crown Court for killing their five-month-old son.
A joint statement said Lancashire Child Protection Committee would now complete its review of the contact agencies had with the family before the death.
One of the key tasks will be to examine evidence made available to the trial which was not previously in the possession of the LCPC.
"The aim will be to learn any lessons arising from the case," added the statement. It said the review would be treated as a priority, though detailed examination of evidence might take some time.
The statement continued: "The agencies involved with the family consider that it is inappropriate to make any further comment until the review has been completed.
"At that point a further statement will be made which will include recommendations from the review. Rose and Catlow, of Cronkshaw Street, Burnley, and formerly of Huncoat, were sentenced to six years and three and a half years respectively for manslaughter and child cruelty.
