REGARDING the reader's queries (Letters, May 5), concerning the slaughter of animals during the Eid Festival, I would like to present your readers with passages from the Holy Bible concerning sacrifices.
Then, they may understand that we also are commanded by Allah (God) to believe and if any readers wish to compare the Bible with the Qu'ran then they should do so for enlightenment.
The Bible passages in question are: Leviticus (chapter 1-9) in which the Lord spoke to Moses on the requirements of acceptable animal sacrifice and Genesis (chapter 22, verses 1-13) in which Abraham was also commanded by God to make a sacrifice of a ram.
So maybe anyone reading these would understand that God is one God and sacrifices to Him are compulsory, according to the believers.
It would be advisable if, instead of trying to criticise and question other people's religion, people would first consult their own and therefore realise that the differences are few and far between.
