INJURED teenager Kevin Hargreaves has undergone a nine-hour operation to reconstruct his shattered leg.
Kevin, 14, is in Withington Hospital, Manchester, where his mother is at his bedside.
The Haslingden High School pupil suffered horrific injuries when masonry fell on his leg inside a derelict coachouse close to his home in Haslingden.
Kevin, of Mayfield Avenue, has undergone a series of operations since the accident a week ago.
Muscle has been taken from his back and implanted in his leg.
The surgical team has included a specialist in micro surgery, a plastic surgeon and an orthopaedic surgeon.
The teenager was in theatre for six hours on Sunday and following complications had a nin-hour hour operation on Monday.
His anxious mother, Mrs Janette Hargreaves, has been at his bedside at the hospital.
She said: "The operations have just got longer.
"It's so frightening and the waiting has been a nightmare.
"They have put new blood vessels in and we now have to wait and hope that the muscle takes.
"Kevin doesn't really know what is going on.
"With all the operations he has had he hasn't really had a chance to come round, which is the best thing."
