Preston Grasshoppers 32 Winnington 29 STEVE Kerry brought Preston Grasshoppers to victory with the last kick of the game and in so doing ensured that his side would finish third in Courage League Four North.
Five penalties from Hoppers skipper in the first half on Sunday (May 4) had kept the score board ticking over and with his conversion of Mike Bailey's try, Hoppers were 22 -17 in front at the interval.
Two tries from former England centre Bryan Barley, one of which was converted, put Sandal in the driving seat with a seven point lead as the game entered its last five minutes.
A second try for Bailey from a tap penalty was converted from the touch line to bring the scores level and set the stage for Kerry's dramatic sixth penalty which gave him eight successes from nine attempts and a personal haul of 22 points.
