DAVE DOVE ran out of time on Saturday. The Leigh skipper was unbeaten on 96 as his side's innings ended at 163-6 and a disappointing draw at Neston.
The home side blasted Leigh's attack after losing their opener and finally declared on 180-3, Greg Dimery picking up 2-56 in an unbroken spell of 22 overs, Cliff Gorst chipping in with the other wicket in a fine spell of 1-27.
Three quick boundaries from Steve Bailey set the tone for Leigh's chase. But from 19-0 the side slumped to 58-5.
Dove and Phil Clarke rescued the position, even rekindling hopes of an impossible victory.
But Clarke, following an invaluable 33 including six boundaries, was run out following a slip, and Neston kept up the pressure.
Dove made the most of some late and wayward bowling before settling for the draw and four bonus points. His 96 included 14 fours in 112 balls.
On Saturday (2pm) Leigh are at home to Birkenhead Park.
