AROUND 200 voluntary school governors from all over St Helens showed their commitment to putting pupils first when they gave up their Saturday to attend a key conference.
The annual governors conference was held at the Stakis Hotel, St Helens, where key speakers included Professor Ted Wragg and retired head teacher and educationalist, Peter Downes.
The theme of the conference, organised by St Helens Council, was developing working relationships with governors and head teachers to promote improvements in schools and to build on the already high- quality education service offered throughout the borough.
