A VIOLENT gang of youths set upon two men in a completely unprovoked attack near the Caldo Garage on Haresfinch Road last week.
The attack happened at 11.30pm on Friday, May 2 as the men, both in their early twenties, were walking by the junction with Haresfinch Road and Washway Lane and the gang, which also included two girls, jumped out and began punching and kicking them.
Nothing was stolen from the victims and the gang eventually made their escape, leaving one of the men needing hospital treatment for a broken jaw. They later described their attackers as being in their late teens/early twenties and the gangleader was white, about 5ft 11ins tall with a stocky build and a skinhead.
POLICE are now appealing for witnesses to the attack including the two girls of the gang who didn't actually take part in the attack. Anyone with information is asked to contact the St Helens CID office on 0151 777 6064 or alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
