ALICE Judge has been mum to thousands.
But Alice is now enjoying the quieter life after 20 years in charge at Stonehouse local authority day nursery in Etherstone Street, Leigh.
Her lifelong dedication to children began when she qualified as a nursery nurse in 1951.
She has worked for Wigan Social Services Department for 40 years, being appointed matron in 1967 at Stonehouse.
Friends gave her a big send-off with a retirement party there and Social Services Director Bernard Walker was on hand to present her retirement gift .
Department Service Manager Lynn Mullen said:"Alice put the needs of children and families first. She has given many years of loyal, dedicated service and will be greatly missed."
