THE committee we formed to oversee the 'Friends of Kris Appeal' have decided that having achieved the target of £7,000 to close the fund.

It is now almost two years since Kris passed away and though the memory of his personality and courage will remain in our thoughts forever, my family and I are sure that he would want us to say a heartfelt thank-you to all the people involved with the fund.

It is impossible to name all of the people who contributed to the appeal, but please be assured that thanks go to you all.

However, there are some very special people, without whose help and dedication the fund would never have reached its target, and so to the following, on behalf of all my family, a very special heartfelt thankyou.

To Mr David Stobbs, who, as chairman of the committee exceeded all expectations and to the rest of the aforementioned committee, namely John Mulby, Christine Kerrigan, Megan Parnell, Kenny Bamber, Tom Cole and to the many others who helped on the committee at various stages. Last but not least, we would like to show our appreciation to the members and officials of Burnley Miners Club, for their help and a very special thank-you to the people of Burnley Wood for their stupendous efforts throughout the appeal.

The money raised will go to Pendlebury Children's Hospital, Swinton, where Kristopher spent a large part of his life in the kidney dialysis unit.

Hopefully, thanks to your efforts, it will make the lives of these extremely courageous children more comfortable and possibly provide a brighter future.

IAN JAGGER and FAMILY, Derby Arms, Newmarket Street, Colne.
