PEOPLE from Rossendale learned how they can help make their place greener and more environmentally friendly at the annual meeting of Rawtenstall Civic Society.
Peter Fox from the North West Environment Agency explained the importance of the international environmental agreement Agenda 21.
Society secretary Kathy Fishwick said there were plans to hold talks with Rossendale Council and Rossendale Groundwork about how to implement Agenda 21.
Chairman Charles Ashmore announced the society was considering rebuilding the rear of the Weavers' Cottage which was demolished in 1972 by Rawtenstall Council.
This would provide more room for the society and its activities.
Over the last year the cottage had seen more visitors and had accommodated schools and colleges and students of industry from all over the world.
Mr Ashmore was re-elected chairman with Mrs Marjorie Luffrum vice-chairman and James Mousley treasurer.
