IN response to the comments regarding the survey on room occupancy at Blackburn College (Letters, May 14), I was one of the nine, not two, overpaid bureaucrats employed by the outside consultants to undertake the job.
The survey was more to do with space utilisation than how few students there were per tutor.
My 'patch' was the old Telecom building and the old Blakey Moor School.
I had to count the number of students using each classroom every hour for a week.
Some classrooms were completely empty for the whole of the week, especially the Computer Suite, Room 110, which housed approximately 20 costly computers. The door was locked all week.
Other classrooms were used by maybe only 25 to 30 students for different hours all week.
The Drop-In Computer Centre on the fourth floor of the Telecom building was the only 'hive of activity,' along with the smoking room and the canteen in Blakey Moor.
My own conclusion is: what a pity the tutors have such a cushy number due to the fact that the students can't get out of bed.
