LIFE or death emergency calls could be delayed because of cost-cutting changes in the 999 service, angry ambulance officers claimed.
They warned that plans to axe the number of staff manning emergency control desks would cause delays - and could cost lives.
The changes included the closure of East Lancashire's own 999 control centre at Accrington. All emergency calls were to be dealt with at Broughton, near Preston.
