A TEENAGER had to be cut free from his car by firefighters after a smash with another car last night.
Mark Haworth, 19, and his 16-year-old passenger were in a Vaxhall Nova in an accident with a Renault Savanah estate at the junction of Lower Fold Lane and Church Street, Great Harwood.
Fire crews cut free Mr Haworth, of St Hubert's Road, Great Harwood. He suffered chest and leg injuries and was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary. He left after treatment.
A spokesman for Accrington fire brigade said: "We had to remove the driver's door which had taken most of the impact. As a precaution we used a spinal board to transfer him to the ambulance."
Passenger Rory Macfarlane, of Wamsley Street, Great Harwood, suffered minor injuries to his left arm.
The driver of the Renault, Mrs June Westhead, 40, of Cliff Lane, Great Harwood, was treated for whiplash injuries and also left hospital.
A police spokesman said: "It seems the Vauxhall Nova left the side road and ran into the path of the other vehicle. Both cars were extensively damaged."
