TORY councillor Peter Britcliff claimed he had found the loneliest bus shelter in the country, 20 yards from its stop, on a street which had no bus route. After complaints from Hyndburn residents, he called on the council to sort it out.
Perseverance paid off for Clitheroe pensioners Betty McKinnon and Ruth Lawson, who scooped a £50,000 jackpot after years of keeping their "eyes down" at Blackburn's Mecca Social Club.
