It amazes me to see the morning traffic in Lancaster as bad as ever when the fine weather makes it perfect for cycling to school or work.

Studies have shown that 75 per cent of traffic in and around Lancaster is for journeys of less than a couple of miles - a distance easily covered on bicycle. If I use my car it can take 25 minutes to get to work, which is just one mile away. On my bike it takes just five minutes. It's a much more pleasant journey and when the weather's good it's a great way to start the day. It's also great fun whizzing past queues of big, fast cars trundling along at 5mph as their frustrated occupants gaze aimlessly out of the windows. So come on citizens of Lancaster, summer's round the corner, and you can beat traffic jams, save time and improve you health by simply making the effort to 'get on yer bike.'
