PRESCOT and Odyssey romped to a seven-wicket victory at Tranmere Victoria on Saturday.

Skipper Tony Bonner won the toss and invited the home side to bat on their sub-standard track.

And after 20 overs Tranmere had reached 35-0.

However, Bonner then brought on Ian Hayhurst, with immediate results. The opening partnership was broken and Tranmere collapsed. The first wicket fell after an hours play and 40 minutes later the teams were back in the pavilion.

Aided by the pitched variable bounce, Hayhurst collected the phenomenal figures of 9-12 as Tranmere were dismissed for 55.

Prescot secured the win with barely an hour at the crease, with the in-form Andy Murphy leading the way with 26 not out.

Meanwhile, P&O seconds enjoyed a comfortable win against their Tranmere counterparts. Don Hurst a fluent 50 in a total of 184-4 before Vics were skittled for 60, Naughton scooping five wickets.

Dave Leather's third team earned a winning draw against Wirral.
